What is with 3D and new movies today?
A lot of new movies and sequels are being released lately and in the pipeline like NEVER before. Is this a new direction in the movie industry? Do you need 3D glasses for all these movies? The new Resident Evil Movie is being shot in something called IMAX 3D. I like the idea of watching a 3D movie without the need for silly glasses, is this where we are at as 3D glasses seems so 80's?
You can't not notice the new 3D direction new movies are going in. I don't understand it and what it means to US, the AUDIENCE.
Of course money will be a BIG factor in this as with anything in the movie industry. Has any1 got any thoughts on this or can they shed more light on this new 3D Movies thing?
IMAX is very high resolution video projected on a 5 story high screen. The Dolby sound is awesome and the picture is crystal clear. 3D is the simulation of three dimensional images with the use of special glasses loaned to every viewer during the show. Most 3D glasses are polarized lenses which pick up slightly shifted images that are alternately projected on the screen so fast that you cannot see the switch. The two views replicate the way our eyes see, from 2 different points. The effect is "rounded" realistic images that appear to extend out into the audience.
