I thought it would be a good way to kick it off by talking about what sort of stuff is posted here, and why we like it so much

First thing I would like to share ... is what I believe is considered to be video art by The Haven community:

Video Art is ... anything you have personally edited or filmed!

From the five second clip of a man funnily falling over a parked car or a 3 minute home video of your arrival of your new bunny rabbits ... to finely crafted live action shorts, AMV's or slideshows.

If you made it, it's art. (BUT No porn ... more on that latter in this post)

And I love 95% of the stuff I see on here, especially from brand new makers, folks who have only a little knowledge, yet, they have a go anyway. When I see a video, uploaded by someone, and it's a first effort and a first upload ... I sense the raw imagination and excitement the maker experienced while creating it ... the enthusiasm shines through the video.

This person is a talent in the making, and all they need is a little experience, knowledge and a LOT of positive encouragement... the talent is already there.

I've been there myself, my first upload was terrifying ... a very rough vid, to Stage 6, who had a brilliant selection of creative content. It got pulverized then generally ignored, but then a couple guys dropped some hints on my thread, they were cool, and here I am 70+ AMV's later and addicted to my art.

If you encourage an artist they will fly.

This is why, and I think I can speak for 100% of our visitors to this thread, including mods and admin, when commenting on creative content, we never rubbish your art on the Haven.

However, as a video artist myself, I do appreciate and consider suggestions from my friends here, on ways I can improve a video,

A well though out review giving pros and cons is a bonus, especially as I appreciate you are all, like me, pretty busy people, so any comment is gold and highly valued.

However a short post simply saying ... 'hey I liked your video' is really encouraging in itself and needs nothing more

.... anything from a simple 'I loved your vid' to a detailed review, it's all really appreciated

Anyway, back to the subject .... What is video art?

I really need to say that because nearly a quarter of my AMV's feature .... scantily clad maidens and amazons.

Anime echhi art is also fine
